Another Look at Racism

This will be short, but I saw something on Facebook this morning that succinctly proves my point: Ignorance & Racism go hand in hand.

Ignorance is simply the lack of knowledge. Knowledge requires work. Work requires energy. People of all races inherently seek the path of less resistance; the path requiring the least expenditure of energy.

It’s hard to trust, but verify. Acceptance without question is what tyrants depend on. Publish the lie and let  it evolve into truth through repetition. They trust that insufficient numbers will expend the energy necessary to verify.

I read a post from the Tea Party about one of their outspoken black members. His first name was Niger. The comments that followed were typical of  “Tenebrae Supersum” (Excess Ignorance) Oh, by the way, I don’t really speak Latin, but I love to make up faux Latin phrases because doing so makes fun of my own ignorance.

Back to my story. Niger is pronounced Nyjer, long I, soft G. It is taken from the African country of the same name. The comments below the the Tea Party post about Niger were made in ignorance of both the preceding facts either through deficient knowledge of basic spelling rules and/or sad incompetence in the area of geography.

You can infer the nature of the comments from the preceding paragraph.

Conclusion: Racism is propagated, encouraged and exacerbated by the intelligentsia ( upon the proletariat ( in the war on freedom, liberty and enlightenment.

(The map on the right shows the country of Niger in Africa. Please note the country just south of Niger. NIGERIA! Imagine that! But wait, there’s more. These two African country names are the source of the so-called N-word, which was again simply a matter of  poor education, lack of spelling and pronunciation skills and  ignorance of basic geography. Ask anyone on the street where to find the African countries of Niger and Nigeria and they’ll probably say they don’t exist, and call  you a racist or say Canada.)Niger

Prospero Ano y Felicidad!

No, I’m afraid I don’t speak Spanish well enough to write a blog post in the language though I wish I could. But I did learn the phrase “Prospero Ano y Felicidad!” from a song on the radio during the Holiday Season. I think I enjoyed this year’s Christmas music and trappings better than any previous year in my life and that’s saying a lot. Of course, there was one Christmas I spent at Walt Disney World and nothing can touch Disney for Holiday fun.

I just thought I might say something for the start of a new year that I was afraid would never come. Not that I really believed in the Mayan Apocalypse, I was truly worried over the state of the world for most of 2012. I should have known better than to worry over Iran and Afghanistan and Pakistan and all those other ‘stans over there. They will do what they do and there is not much I can do about them. Differences between the East and the West are too vast to ever reconcile in this era of human evolution (IMHO).

There is something I heard in Last of the Mohicans that goes “Do not try to understand them… and do not try to make them understand you. That is because they are a breed apart and make no sense”.

Of course, some people would scream this is a racist statement and insensitive and so on and so forth, but do not take it out of context considering the era it represented. And although in today’s politically correct arena in the United States, it would sound harsh and be taken wrong by the very people who need to heed the good advice contained within it, it is a fact, which cannot be denied that all of us are born into a certain “breed” or race or bi-racial or tri-racial environment. Those environments bring with them any number of customs, beliefs, habits, concerns, priorities and diversities. It falls to the individual to rise above the base of stern fundamentalism and stand for equality and unity for the entire HUMAN race of which we are all apart (with the exception of the aliens hiding amongst us, zombies and vampires LOL).

Denying that such racial differences exist and trying to foist such on deeply racial persons is sheer folly. To expect those deeply fundamentally racist persons, whether they be in the Middle East, the Deep South or the wilds of Africa to accept and return love for love is worse than folly, it is suicidal. Until we can simply accept each other as being irreconcilably different and amicably refraining from trying to convert each other by hook, crook or sword, we can expect to see things muddle along in the same vein as what we have seen for the last 100,000 years or so.

I am truly hoping this next year will see our divided nation come back together as Americans, without  animosities toward those with differing opinions, differing religions, differing philosophies. Until men and women can throw out their own personal demons and look at themselves from an objective viewpoint, we will continue to fight among ourselves over petty agendas and selfish desires.

I needed to write this, but none need read it, for I fear my words can change nothing other than the total number of posts on

If you did read, then may your own god bless you and keep you happy during the year to come!
